West Keal is a parish southwest of Spilsby and southeast of Horncastle. East Keal parish lies to the east and Stickford parish to the south. The parish covers just over 2,000 acres and includes part of the hamlet of Keal Coates.
Dating from 1623 the Anglican parish church at West Keal, dedicated to St. Helen, is built of green sandstone and brick on a rise above the village on the southernmost ridge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. It was partially rebuilt in 1866 only to have the tower collapse 15 years later and this was rebuilt being completed in 1884.
